Miss 7 enjoyed having this read to her。 It's a collection of comic panels (some are space themed) rather than a story。Miss 7 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes。 We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors。 Miss 7 enjoyed having this read to her。 It's a collection of comic panels (some are space themed) rather than a story。Miss 7 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes。 We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors。 。。。more

This is mostly a collection of various strips where Snoopy goes to space。 He variously visits the moon, space, and Mars。 But the whole book is not just Snoopy (which I thought was a shame, the title sort of implies differently。) We also get an extended story about Snoopy and the Beagle Scouts getting lost in the woods, the children at school, playing sports, and other Peanuts activities。

A collection of classic Peanuts in tribute to the Apollo 10 mission that made Charlie Brown and Snoopy a part of the space program as their names were adopted as call signs。 Snoopy, Woodstock, Lucy, and the rest of notable characters are within these pages of laughter for both the old and young。

hardly any space comics。

I always enjoy spending time with the whimsical Peanuts gang。  Charles Schulz was, in my opinion, one of the best at what he did。 In this title, Snoopy wants to be the first beagle in space, just as the title indicates。  But, of course, the whole gang is included in this title。  The subsequent comic strips often sweetly hint at home truths or philosophical issues。  There are also strips that will just make you chuckle。  This book also includes a section that has a number of interesting facts abo I always enjoy spending time with the whimsical Peanuts gang。  Charles Schulz was, in my opinion, one of the best at what he did。 In this title, Snoopy wants to be the first beagle in space, just as the title indicates。  But, of course, the whole gang is included in this title。  The subsequent comic strips often sweetly hint at home truths or philosophical issues。  There are also strips that will just make you chuckle。  This book also includes a section that has a number of interesting facts about space。 In my opinion, one can't go wrong spending time in the world of Peanuts。  I highly recommend this title。Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Fans of Charlie Brown and his irresistible beagle, Snoopy, will find this collection of cartoons humorous。 While not all of the strips feature Snoopy or his ambitious plans to be the first beagle to land on the Moon, most of them do, and readers will laugh along with some of Charlie Brown's sidekicks as Snoopy leads a troop of birds on an expedition, Charlie Brown gets lost and found in the woods, and Peppermint Patty tries to survive school without doing too much homework。 Whenever I read these Fans of Charlie Brown and his irresistible beagle, Snoopy, will find this collection of cartoons humorous。 While not all of the strips feature Snoopy or his ambitious plans to be the first beagle to land on the Moon, most of them do, and readers will laugh along with some of Charlie Brown's sidekicks as Snoopy leads a troop of birds on an expedition, Charlie Brown gets lost and found in the woods, and Peppermint Patty tries to survive school without doing too much homework。 Whenever I read these strips, I'm amazed at how well-developed all of the characters are。 While the space race may be long over, the humor found here is timeless and just as entertaining as it was when some of the strips first appeared。 Not to mention there are a few philosophical musings that can take readers out of their own self-absorption。 Fans of Peanuts will enjoy the back matter showing how the artwork changed from its inception。 。。。more

I have been a fan of Peanuts for as long as I can remember, even before I could read。 But the first book that I vividly remember reading was a Peanuts book。 I will never tire of reading the collections。 And this one is a great one to add to the collection。These are all full-colored, starting with comics featuring Snoopy and company talking about outer space and more。 You get to see all of your favorite characters and lots of classic clips, many of which are familiar。 It made me feel all warm and I have been a fan of Peanuts for as long as I can remember, even before I could read。 But the first book that I vividly remember reading was a Peanuts book。 I will never tire of reading the collections。 And this one is a great one to add to the collection。These are all full-colored, starting with comics featuring Snoopy and company talking about outer space and more。 You get to see all of your favorite characters and lots of classic clips, many of which are familiar。 It made me feel all warm and fuzzy and nostalgic to read these again。The book appears to be in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 10 orbiting the moon。 That was the mission that adopted Charlie Brown and Snoopy's names as the official call signs of the command module and lunar module。 Plus the astronauts used their pictures to explain their mission to kids。Following the comics are a bunch of space facts and some fun activities for kids to do。 And then there is a small section of bonus comics。Use this for an introduction to the classic Peanuts comics and a little bit of history。 I definitely want it in my collection as a fan!Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me a requested review copy。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

Charlie Brown is like the Rodney Dangerfield of comics。 He can't get any respect。 Even his own dog hasn't bothered to learn his name。 Snoopy calls him "the little round-headed kid。" Cheerios and Charlie Brown were my first order of business on Sunday mornings when I was a kid, so it was great fun to read this collection。 The title might make it seem like there are only space-themed comics in the book, but happily that is not the case。 There are some at the beginning about space, and a few at the Charlie Brown is like the Rodney Dangerfield of comics。 He can't get any respect。 Even his own dog hasn't bothered to learn his name。 Snoopy calls him "the little round-headed kid。" Cheerios and Charlie Brown were my first order of business on Sunday mornings when I was a kid, so it was great fun to read this collection。 The title might make it seem like there are only space-themed comics in the book, but happily that is not the case。 There are some at the beginning about space, and a few at the end。 In between, there is a great variety included here, from many different time periods。 There are even a few including the minor character Eudora。 I had completely forgotten about her。 This book really cheered me up, and I thank the publisher and Net Galley for the review copy。 。。。more

Peanuts and Charlie Brown were among my goto Sunday comics back in the ’60s and ’70s。 The local paper placed the cartoon on the front page of its full-color section of the paper。 My dad would grab the front section; I would grab the weekly comics from the Sunday paper。 And there was Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and friends, on the top of the cover of that precious section。 Though I no longer receive a paper copy of our local paper (I do subscribe to a digital copy) and no longer have access to Snoopy Peanuts and Charlie Brown were among my goto Sunday comics back in the ’60s and ’70s。 The local paper placed the cartoon on the front page of its full-color section of the paper。 My dad would grab the front section; I would grab the weekly comics from the Sunday paper。 And there was Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and friends, on the top of the cover of that precious section。 Though I no longer receive a paper copy of our local paper (I do subscribe to a digital copy) and no longer have access to Snoopy and the gang, he is still among my favorite strips。Though a large section of this collection of strips does pick up the theme of Snoopy in space, it certainly does not represent the entire collection。 The entire gang is here。 The ARC that I received did not indicate the original dates of the included material; thus there is no way of knowing whether they were pulled randomly from available strips or represent a particular year or sequence。 As can be seen, color has been added to what may have been B/W strips when originally presented。 It was fun (and I found myself laughing) to watch this group of kids, dogs, and birds (yep, Woodstock is here too) interacting, teasing, and, occasionally, helping each other。 I great gift for those who love Charlie Brown or to introduce him to those unfamiliar with his contribution to 20th century culture。 I now want to go back and examine others in this 14 book collection。 ______________This review is based on a free electronic copy provided by the publisher for the purpose of creating this review。 The opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more
